DANNY BOY SIGNS FOR HEATHENS

Tuesday December 13, 2016
CRADLEY Heathens are delighted to reveal the signing of showman Danny Ayres for the 2017 season.

Ayres is a massive favourite with supporters who took him to their heart with his celebrations during guest appearances over the last two seasons.

He joins Tom Perry and Joe Lawlor in the new-look Cradley side who will race the majority of home meetings at Wolverhampton with occasional appearances at Birmingham.

Said Ayres: “I can’t thank Gary Patchett, Chris Van Straaten Will Pottinger and Nigel Pearson enough for their persistence in trying to sign me and they’ve been the only real people who have backed me through my operation and I am desperate to repay them with some big points for the Heathens in 2017.

“When I guested for Cradley against Eastbourne last year, the fans were unbelievable. I’m passionate about my racing and I love to celebrate if I win – they seemed to enjoy it with me and it was great to interact with them like that.

“There’s always been some sort of connection between me and the Cradley fans and to race for them as one of their own in 2017 is going to be something special.

“I haven’t got a bad word to say about Kent and I’ll admit it will be weird not riding for them next year.

“Len Silver and everyone at the club have been absolutely fantastic with me and I’ve made a lot of genuine friends down at Central Park.

“I fully expected to be back there again in 2017 so to be told there wasn’t going to be any room for me there did come as a bit of a shock.

“However, everything happens for a reason and it didn’t take too long for Cradley to be on the phone.

“I think me and Cradley are going to be a good match for each other and I want to get them back to where they belong at No.1!”
