HEATHENS HAVE A PARTY!

Sunday November 16, 2014
CRADLEY brought the curtain down on their spectacular 2014 campaign as they hosted their End of Season Presentation last night.

With the news the Heathens would remain on track at Perry Barr in the National League in 2015 announced early in the evening, there was a party atmosphere at the Copthorne as they celebrated a remarkable year.

Having seen all riders presented with their National League and Knockout Cup Winners’ medals, they moved onto the individual awards.

Danny Phillips was presented with Most Bonus Points award whilst fellow reserve Matt Williamson, who was unfortunately absent due to a holiday booked before the season began, was named as the winner of the Wayne Garrett Memorial Trophy for Most Improved Rider.

Young gun Nathan Greaves scooped the Max Cartwright Memorial, but it was fellow teenage ace Max Clegg who bagged the top prize as he was named as the Ivor Hughes Memorial Trophy Rider of the Year.

Clegg has enjoyed a sublime year in his second season with the Heathens, and he was thrilled to be recognised for his efforts to cap off a stunning campaign.

Said Clegg: “I was fairly happy with my year but at times I could have done better. Overall it’s definitely been a good year though, and it’s just a shame the season is over!

“To win the Rider of the Year award is an awesome way to end the season, and I’m just really grateful to everyone that has helped me all year.”
